PROJECT MANAGER

The Opportunity

This role will attract an experienced and engaging project manager with an engineering background who is looking to further their career in a project management capacity.  The candidate will collaborate with all internal teams as well as under the guidance of the Head of Engineering & Supply Chain. You will liaise at ease with all external parties including OEMs, technology developers, partners and funding stakeholders.  With strong technical and communication skills you will be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of project management practices and strong facilitation skills.

Objectives

  • Manage multiple customer facing engineering projects, interfacing with both external and internal stakeholders and delivery resource
  • Create and then drive milestone and detailed level plans to deliver agreed customer outputs (work packages)
  • Deliver projects on-time, on-budget and on-specification.
  • Continue to develop and improve project management system and discipline with the organisation
  • Interface with Sales & Marketing to provide insights and prompts to upsell to existing customers
  • Manage project risks and issues throughout a project.
  • Ensure projects are aligned with our in-house NPI approach and all relevant standards.
  • Ensure projects are aligned and delivered based on company principles.
  • Create and maintain project budgets, interfacing with Finance department as required.
  • Create and maintain project and company-wide resource plans.
  • Manage project change in a controlled and compliant manner.
  • Facilitate, identify and capture project risks (and uncertainties) and issues throughout projects with all stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and capture lessons learned on project completion, and actively improve based on feedback.
  • Submission of project status reports to all stakeholders and manage customer expectations and circulation of regular meeting minutes, actions and roadblocks.
  • Work closely with both the Sales and Engineering functions of Productiv to ensure concurrent and best practices are deployed throughout the organisation.
  • Ensure the smooth transition of technologies into products through application of technology, manufacturing and commercial readiness levels, engineering best practice and APQP principles.

Other Responsibilities

  • You will participate in all routine departmental and other team meetings and be a key source of information for management meetings;
  • Support the establishment of all business processes to allow a small but ambitious business to meet the expectations of OEM customers;
  • Support the development of the assembly facility and associated projects including those relating to quality systems, process introduction, equipment installations;
  • Drive team utilisation and personal utilisation targets;
  • Creation and management of budgets.

Specific Skills

  • Project management background within different sized organisations – OEM, Tier 1, SME
  • Excellent project planning, documenting and record keeping skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent IT literacy, being a competent user of MS Office including MS Project
  • Ability to hold and maintain relationships at all levels with customer and suppliers
  • Commercial awareness in monitoring project / scope through change management process
  • Experience of managing a portfolio of multiple customer projects at once
  • Understanding and knowledge of TS16949 and APQP/PPAP within the automotive sector
  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Budgeting and cost control within set performance related targets and objectives
  • Capacity, resource and man management skills
  • Use of risk mitigation tools to control risks within projects and prioritise risk to be mitigated

Department Function

The Sales and Marketing department is responsible for ensuring that demand for the Company’s portfolio of engineering and manufacturing services is developed within target markets, either with Technology Developers, or commercial clients, and that specific sales opportunities are identified, developed and successfully closed, thus ensuring that Company sales objectives are achieved.

The Opportunity

The Sales Applications Engineer plays a pivotal role in developing potential solutions for new opportunities with both existing and potential new clients and is expected to make a significant contribution to the future success of the business. We actively encourage personal development opportunities and this role may in the future lead to a team management / leadership role.

Objectives

  • Provide technical expertise and support to the Sales team, particularly in client meetings and in proposal writing
  • Conduct initial assessments of client technologies or processes
  • Ensure client’s technical/manufacturing requirements are understood, documented and agreed
  • Play a significant part in developing appropriate solutions to client product development needs and developing sales proposals

Activities & Responsibilities

  • Attend client meetings with Sales team, either in Coventry or at Client sites
  • Act as the key technical interface between the client, the Sales team and the Engineering and Project Management teams
  • Working with the Engineering and Project Management teams ensure that potential solutions are properly assessed, cost models and high-level project plans are developed
  • Take responsibility for developing appropriate technical solutions and detailed proposals to allow the delivery teams to focus on client projects,
  • Ensure that meeting minutes and notes are kept and relevant sales records are updated
  • Assist with presenting solutions to clients and prospects. This will include presenting to senior management and Board level clients at a technical level.

You will be the key engineering interface between the client/prospect and internal organisation, in particular, the Engineering, Project Management and Delivery teams, and as such you will require excellent technical capabilities and the ability to work with people from different areas of the business. This role will require that you are comfortable regularly meeting new people and capable of developing successful relationships with key contacts, including senior management and Board level, at existing clients and new prospects.

While predominantly office based this role will require regular travel throughout the UK to attend client or prospect meetings to support the Sales team.

Specific Skills

To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

  • Ability to grasp and discuss various technical subjects to a significant level of detail
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to write clear, well-structured proposals and technical documents

You must be able to work in a small, close knit team and demonstrate commitment, loyalty and a sense of urgency. SENIOR MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Senior Manufacturing Engineer | Full-time | Coventry, UK

Salary: Competitive

The Opportunity

In order to meet the requirements of a rapidly expanding business, Productiv wish to employ an experienced manufacturing engineer, to support the company’s engineering function, which is currently working on multiple development projects.

The successful candidate will have the ability to train and develop a team of engineers, have the capability to produce technical reports, and have good presentation skills, which may include delivering training to engineers and technology developers.

The organisation is also collaborating on a number of initiatives and is developing a manufacturing capability to aid the productionisation of hardware. Key tasks to support these projects include developing the machining, assembly and inspection functions, as well as liaising with partners, developers and specialists.
Ideally you will be a natural problem solver with the ability to confidently present your findings and propose solutions with all levels of the business.

 

Objectives

  • Conduct manufacturing assessments of products for new components and assemblies, developed by UK based technology developers
  • Plant and process layout for new products and variants
  • Produce specifications for manufacturing and assembly equipment, as well as creating business cases to support procurement activities
  • Read, interpret and analyse supplied CAD models, drawings and specifications
  • Identify tooling and fixture requirements
  • Guide junior members of staff and other team members
  • Liaise with collaborators, partners, technology developers and suppliers
  • Work closely with Cost Estimators and the Engineering team to support work throughput

Activities & Responsibilities

  • Generation of reports as required for Project and Management meetings.
  • Revision control of information supplied, and maintenance of Bills of Process etc.
  • Support production preparation to ensure smooth production ramp-up into volume
  • Develop and train both experienced and graduate engineers, as well as Technology Developers in manufacturing processes and technologies
  • Document process and engineering know-how to benefit future projects

 

Specific Skills

To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

  • A working knowledge of NPI processes
  • Knowledge of business standards including APQP, PPAP and ISO 9001
  • Experience of using product design and manufacturing tools including DFMEA/PFMEA, DFM/DFA, Value Analysis
  • Knowledge of medium and high-volume manufacturing control techniques including working to Takt time, one-piece flow, Kanban, 2-bin, etc
  • An understanding of the basic operation of an ERP system
  • Experience of building open working relationships internally, with suppliers and customers

Training & Education

  • Educated to HND or degree level in an engineering discipline
  • Ability to use industry standard CAD software, in order to interrogate models
  • IT literate (competent user of MS products e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc
  • 5 years minimum experience in OE production environment, preferably from the electro-mechanical sector.
